Selecting a Peace Partner

Selecting the right Peace Partner is crucial for the integrity and success of a peace-aligned investment. Approved Peace Partners ensure that the project meets the stringent criteria set out by the Peace Finance Standard, providing credibility and assurance to investors and stakeholders.

Peace Partners play multiple roles in peace-aligned investments. They implement peacebuilding activities, bringing critical networks and contextual knowledge to the table. Functioning as intermediaries or bridge builders, Peace Partners connect local communities with investors, facilitating meaningful engagement and dialogue and they facilitate the verification with key information. Additionally, they provide advisory services that help shape the project’s strategy and ensure its alignment with peace finance principles.

Who can be a Peace Partner?

Peace Partners include a range of entities and individuals with expertise in peacebuilding and sustainable development:

  • Local civil society organisations and networks
  • Field-based academic researchers, experts or analysts
  • Political risk and international aid consulting firms
  • Independent peacemaking or peacebuilding organisations
  • Multilateral and UN agencies
  • Local business networks

Screening criteria for approved Peace Partners

Pre-approved Peace Partners have been rigorously screened based on the following criteria:

  • Peace and conflict analysis: Proficiency in conducting detailed analyses of peace and conflict dynamics.
  • Community engagement and dialogue: Experience in engaging with local communities and facilitating dialogue.
  • Implementation of peacebuilding activities: Proven track record of implementing effective peacebuilding projects.
  • Monitoring and evaluation: Expertise in monitoring and evaluating the impact of peace initiatives.

How to select a Peace Partner

When selecting a pre-approved Peace Partner, consider the following factors:

Geographical coverage: Ensure the Peace Partner has experience in the region where the project is located.

Sector experience: Match the partner’s expertise with the specific sector of the investment.

Project scale and scope: Ensure the partner has the capacity to handle the scale and scope of the project.

Track record with similar projects: Review the partner’s previous work with similar projects to ensure they have relevant experience.

Specific capabilities and services: Verify that the partner offers the specific capabilities and services required for the project.
